2020 Review

Author: Suzanne Pinchin

Before we give you a flavour of the exciting new products, services and features we’re bringing you this year, we’re taking a look back with our 2020 review.

For Kanya UK, the pandemic brought us new opportunities which meant that we were proud to be able to support local businesses and the medical sector in particular.

The Kanya Aluminium Profile System has a history of usage in creating partitioning in offices and factories. However, when the need for protective screens emerged at the beginning of the pandemic, we rose to the challenge of creating a product.

Using the profile system as the framework, polycarbonate, followed by clear plastic film was used to create a protective barrier, which could sit on top of a counter or desk. This gives protection for staff and customers from the airborne virus.

Our first project was for The Kay Group. They approached us to provide screens in their service stations and shops, as they provided essential services. The protective screens, now commonly known as Sneezeguards, were sent as a kit of parts to the customer for easy self-assembly.

The Sneezeguard requirement soon spread across the country, as businesses prepared to re-open following the first lockdown. Our usual clientele of manufacturing, construction and industrial clients spread to retailers, including a large number of fish and chip takeaways. We were even asked to create a custom design for a mobile fish and chip van!

As more businesses opened, we saw our Sneezeguards appearing in medical centre reception areas, leisure centres, shops and train stations. The beauty of our product is that we can offer standard sizes and could manufacture these very quickly, but can also offer custom sizes, ‘made to measure’. Further developments included office partitioning systems, ticket booths and mobile partitions.

But it wasn’t just Sneezeguards which impacted on the business. We also saw a rise in helping clients who were coping with the increase in demand for medical equipment, food manufacturing and essential services.

Protective cabinets and framework systems as well as workbenches, trolleys  and packaging tables were all required within short timescales, and Kanya UK rose to the challenge. With a plentiful supply of raw materials to complete these projects, we were able to take the headache out of our clients business processes by providing equipment and furniture to support them when it was needed most.

All in all, a busy year for Kanya UK and the staff at Thinking Space Systems, who all helped achieve the timescales we had promised our customers.

To 2021…
