Liverpool John Lennon Airport
Kanya UK have provided its’ products to construct a benching system for a Thinking Space Systems’ client in the security sector. By combining the two products and their knowledge, the result is two airport repacking desks for Liverpool John Lennon Airport.
The two desks were designed by CCD Design and Ergonomics Ltd. as part of their comprehensive study into passenger behaviours and throughflow, leading to improvements to the customer experience at the security scanning section of the airport.
They in turn tasked control room furniture specialists Thinking Space Systems who in turn utitlised Kanya UK to provide the bespoke workbenches.
Two desks have been manufactured using 40×40 Kanya aluminium profiles, which have been powdercoated to a bright blue finish to compliment the clients’ brand code. The concept behind the colour is to continue to link the passenger and create a more positive experience as they traverse various stages of the process.
5mm aluminium composite panels have been used around the ends of the desks and on seated areas, with printed messaging to direct the passenger as they flow through the scanning process. Single and double tray inserts have been provided in the worktop, to allow for the placement of trays at various positions along the bench.
In the first six months of use, the airport found a 15% increase in security throughput and has complimented their strapline ‘Faster. Easier. Friendlier’.
