2020 Review

Before we give you a flavour of the exciting new products, services and features we’re bringing you this year, we’re taking a look back with our 2020 review.

For Kanya UK, the pandemic brought us new opportunities which meant that we were proud to be able to support local businesses and the medical sector in particular.

The Kanya Aluminium Profile System has a history of usage in creating partitioning in offices and factories. However, when the need for protective screens emerged at the beginning of the pandemic, we rose to the challenge of creating a product.

Using the profile system as the framework, polycarbonate, followed by clear plastic film was used to create a protective barrier, which could sit on top of a counter or desk. This gives protection for staff and customers from the airborne virus.

Our first project was for The Kay Group. They approached us to provide screens in their service stations and shops, as they provided essential services. The protective screens, now commonly known as Sneezeguards, were sent as a kit of parts to the customer for easy self-assembly.

The Sneezeguard requirement soon spread across the country, as businesses prepared to re-open following the first lockdown. Our usual clientele of manufacturing, construction and industrial clients spread to retailers, including a large number of fish and chip takeaways. We were even asked to create a custom design for a mobile fish and chip van!

As more businesses opened, we saw our Sneezeguards appearing in medical centre reception areas, leisure centres, shops and train stations. The beauty of our product is that we can offer standard sizes and could manufacture these very quickly, but can also offer custom sizes, ‘made to measure’. Further developments included office partitioning systems, ticket booths and mobile partitions.

But it wasn’t just Sneezeguards which impacted on the business. We also saw a rise in helping clients who were coping with the increase in demand for medical equipment, food manufacturing and essential services.

Protective cabinets and framework systems as well as workbenches, trolleys  and packaging tables were all required within short timescales, and Kanya UK rose to the challenge. With a plentiful supply of raw materials to complete these projects, we were able to take the headache out of our clients business processes by providing equipment and furniture to support them when it was needed most.

All in all, a busy year for Kanya UK and the staff at Thinking Space Systems, who all helped achieve the timescales we had promised our customers.

To 2021…

We’re looking forward to a packed year ahead in the world of construction and British manufacturing. Kicking off the year, we have an exciting announcement, with some brand new products and features coming to you next week….

Kanya UK Success…Once Again

This month, we’re celebrating Kanya UK success, once again, as a team member has been recognised for his achievements.

As a division of Thinking Space Systems, all our team are eligible for the Employee of the Month award. We are all one happy team!

So we’re delighted that the Employee of the Month November 2020 Award has gone to Mike Day, for his effort managing Kanya UK output.

Mike has been with us for around two and a half years, and has previously won the award this time last year with fellow Kanya UK colleague Roger, as well as in December last year for his work representing his production colleagues in the Culture Team.

Mike has been rewarded for stepping up this month when colleague Roger was on leave. Mike rose to the challenge, taking on new responsibilities and developing new skills, in order to maintain output in production.

Great job Mike!

Mike gets to enjoy the parking space, and will hopefully soon be able to use his meal voucher (fingers crossed).

Head over to the Thinking Space blog, where we find out a little more about Mike, in our Q&A session.

This includes the all important question about Marmite. Is Mike a lover or a hater?

Labelling Machine Frame Enclosure

The Kanya Aluminium Profile System has been used to create a labelling machine frame enclosure for a client in the labelling machinery industry.

The Client decided to use the Kanya aluminium profile system for the machine frame, having originally been recommended by another Kanya client. They spoke highly of and had been impressed with its’ speed of build and the large range of profiles to choose from.

Currently being manufactured, the labelling machine will operate at high speeds. Therefore, a protective enclosure with hood has been created using the Kanya aluminium profile system, to provide safety guarding. A lifting door within the enclosure allows for access to the machinery from the front and a sliding door system at the rear, giving complete access to the machine. These doors operate using magnetic catches, which only open when the machine is not running.

The conveyor frame is also constructed from the Kanya aluminium profile system, using 40mm profiles with levelling feet.

Further details coming soon…

New Publication: Social Distancing Guide

Further to our Sneezeguard flyer and office partitioning system presentation, we bring you our new publication: Social Distancing Guide.

Packed full of examples, the guide shows how by using our made to measure partitions, you can continue to keep your staff and visitors safe, without negatively affecting the workplace.

You may have invested in a polished reception desk area with corporate branding and are struggling to find a screen solution to match the aesthetics.

Perhaps you are concerned about putting your visitors and staff at ease and giving them the confidence to continue to work and build relationships in this era of social distancing.

Or perhaps you’ve just got a very awkward workspace which you can’t find an off-the-shelf screen for.

At Kanya UK, we are experienced in providing partitioning systems to a variety of sectors. It is our ability to customise that sets us apart from other screen manufacturers.[vc_row][vc_column][vc_cta h2=”Read our social distancing guide” txt_align=”center” color=”black” add_button=”bottom” btn_title=”Download now” btn_style=”flat” btn_shape=”square” btn_align=”center” btn_link=”url:https%3A%2F%2Fkanya-uk.co.uk%2Fsocial-distancing-guide%2F|title:Social%20Distancing%20Guide||”][/vc_cta][/vc_column][/vc_row]Our aluminium framed system can be adapted to provide counter gaps for the passing of documents, or be fitted around curved desks, equipment or desks which involve different heights, whilst appearing to be ‘part of the furniture’.

We’ve see three main areas where our screen system has flourished. In open plan offices and co-shared workspaces, where a desk top solution can be moved to suit personnel. In receptions, we can completely integrate screens to maintain aesthetics. Lastly, we offer floor standing screens, which have been used for zoning and segregation in public spaces, as well as enclosures which can be used for ticket booths and information kiosks.

Whatever your predicament, we can work with you to achieve a safer environment for all. Download our new publication: Social Distancing Guide to get started.

Return to the Mach Show 2021

Kanya UK are hopeful and are looking forward to exhibiting at the Mach Show 2021, after the postponed event of 2020.

We will be at stand 20-648 at the NEC in Birmingham. See us there from the 25th to the 28th January 2021.

We exhibited here for the first time in 2018, where we occupied a moderate stand. In 2020 we were going bigger and set to bring our own Kanya stand.

Now in 2021 we’re going even bigger!

This gives us an ideal opportunity to provide demonstrations which utilise the floor space, allowing visitors to inspect from all angles and chat to us on the stand.

What to expect

At our stand 20-648, we will be focusing on our workbench and workplace systems, suitable for manufacturing, packaging and assembly production lines.

An example of a typical production line set up will be created. This will consist of ErgoPlace workbenches, a mobile parts trolley and roller conveyor system linking the two workbenches.

The workbenches will feature our latest lighting solutions, including signal lights, to recreate an assembly line.

We’re also looking forward to demonstrating how our new printing production line can benefit your workplace. Whether it be custom graphics, patterns or logos on technical furniture, or a complete framework large format printed display, we’ll have plenty of inspiration for you.

We will also have a range of ergonomic accessories for the manufacturing workplace. From monitor mounts, to tablet holders, lighting and tool holders, we can show you a whole host of examples ideal for creating efficiencies on your production line.

Meet the team

Our sales specialists Tony Ferreira and Steve Taylor will be available throughout the 4 day event. They will look forward to explaining the advantages of using the Kanya profile system for industrial builds. The possibilities with the Kanya profile system don’t just stop at workbenches. The team can show examples of applications ranging from test rigs to enclosures and frameworks, which includes our exhibition stand in itself!

New website

The team will be keen to demonstrate our new website, which was launched last month. New features include:

  • downloadable CAD drawing files and technical data
  • more application examples
  • full explanation of our project delivery service.
